The best way to reach all of these people and most importantly; the not-yet members is through news articles in local newspapers. In these news articles we give the people information about the SCFPA, its advantages and how we can assist, as well as highlights of recent fires, prevention strategies, acknowledgements, training, threats etc. We usually post in the following newspapers and/or websites: Suid-Kaap forum, George Herald Express, Knysna-Plett Herald, AgriEDEN website, AgriEco, Landbouweekblad, Working on Fire newsletter and website. As well as EDEN FM radio station.
Ladismith WoF Basis Werwing
Die Suid-Kaap Brand Beskerming Vereeninging (SKBBV), in samewerking met Working on Fire (WoF), het op Woensdag die 2de April, 25 potensiële vuur vegters vir die Ladismith WoF basis gekies. Ongeveer 60 individue het die oggend by die Ladismith brand weer stasie opgedaag vir die posisies en die suksesvolle kandidate is gekies deur middel van ‘n streng fiksheid toets en onderhoude. As gevolg van die gevaarlike situasies waaraan die vuur vegters bloot gestel gaan word, moet die 25 kandidate eers ‘n mediese ondersoek en long funksie toetse ondergaan voordat hulle aangestel word.
FPA looks after four-million hectares for regions year-long fire season
Fire advisor and chairperson of the Southern Cape Fire Protection Association (SCFPA), Paul Gerber, says that the FPA partners with Working on Fire (WoF) to provide an area of coverage spanning four million hectares in the Southern Cape.
SCFPA Welcomes New WoF Team
On Friday, the 13th of September, the Southern Cape Fire Protection Association, Eden District Municipality and Working on Fire held a welcome ceremony for a new and much needed Working on Fire (WoF) team.
